Party Host
Habitot Children's Museum is seeking a seasonal party
host available immediately. Compensation is $15 per hour after
training.
Position Responsibilities
- Greet party hosts and guests, set up party room, clean up
- Maintain museum and party supplies
- Assist with cake and presents
- Duties may involve pickup of supplies prior to parties
Qualifications
- Must be friendly, energetic, punctual, reliable
- Preschool teaching experience preferred
- Previous party hosting/customer service experience, and reliable transportation a plus
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and visitor experience skills
- Fun, out-going, and a creative problem-solver
- Must be available during the holiday season

Habitot Children's Museum is the East Bay's award-winning
hands-on discovery museum for young children welcoming 200
people a day. Its mission is to nurture and enrich the lives
of young children, their families, and the adults who care
for them by providing an environment for early childhood learning
and exploration, parenting education and community outreach.
Habitot ensures its accessibility for all Bay Area families
through its Family Outreach Program that brings more than
10,000 low-income and at-risk children into the museum every
year through scholarships, subsidized memberships and free
admissions days.

Not just a place to entertain young children, Habitot provides

Internships
Development Intern
Habitot Children's Museum, a Berkeley-based,
hands-on discovery museum for young children, is seeking a
Development Intern to assist with a variety of fundraising
projects and activities. The internship is 3-months long,
with a minimum of 9 hours/week expected. Stipend of $300 upon
completion of 100 hours.
Position Responsibilities
- Write in-kind donation request letters
- Research potential donors and sponsors
- Update FileMaker database records
- File donation reports
- Assist with on and off-site donor cultivation and special
events
Qualifications
- Have an interest in fundraising, research, grant writing,
event planning, and/or non-profit organizations
- Be a junior or senior at a four-year college/university,
or recent college graduate
- Have excellent writing and communication skills
- Be proficient in Word, Excel, Internet in Mac environments
- Be organized and efficient
- MUST be able to work independently under direct supervision
Early Childhood Exhibit Intern
Manage one or more of Habitot Children's Museum's
hands-on learning exhibits for preschoolers, interacting with
the public and implementing fun learning activities for children
and families. Tell stories, demonstrate scientific principles,
make crafts, and model playful interactions. Under the guidance
of Habitot's Floor Supervisor and the Early Childhood Education
Programs Manager, gain skills and experience working with
children and developing age-appropriate curriculum. Internships
are 100 hours, typically worked over three months on a regular
schedule, primarily weekday mornings and Saturdays. There
is a stipend of $300 for the internship. Up to three sequential
internships are possible with increased opportunities for
developing one's own curriculum.
Volunteers must be at least 16 yrs old, preferably interested
in training for a career in childcare or education. Must be
friendly, energetic, and punctual. Must be available to intern
on one or more days of Habitot's open hours: weekday mornings,
9:00 am - 1:00 pm, Friday afternoons until 4:30, and all day
on Saturdays. From October to March, Sunday hours are available
as well.
Graphic Design Intern
Gain practical work-place experience working
under the direction of Habitot's full time graphics designer.
Produce ads, event flyers, invitations, announcements, calendars,
fundraising letters, annual appeals, business cards and a
host of routine graphically designed publications. Hone your
skills with Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop for print
and on-line publications. Internships are 100 hours, typically
worked over three months on a regular schedule. There is a
stipend of $300 for the internship. Up to three sequential
internships are possible with increased opportunities for
creating one's own graphic designs.
Interns should be at least 18 yrs old, and preferably interested
in training for a career in graphic design, advertising, or
marketing and communications. Proficiency with computers,
and some experience with graphic design helpful. Must be able
to intern during regular working hours.

Volunteer Opportunities
Ad Representative
Solicit advertising from local businesses for Habitot's
quarterly class catalog. A perfect way to volunteer (moms,
dads, caregivers, or friend of Habitot!) and help Habitot
by working from home. We will provide training and all contract
materials. Approximately two hours a week.
