Parent & Caregiver Classes
Habitot's workshops for parents and caregivers offer the
unique opportunity to develop skills and increase knowledge
about early childhood development while creating a community
of support for those raising the next generation. Experienced
parenting professionals offer a wide variety of perspectives,
strategies and approaches to foster each parenting style.
Evening parenting classes are offered on a sliding scale,
from $15 - $30, depending on income. Please inquire about
our sliding scale at the time of registration.
On-Site Parenting Workshops
Fall Workshops
No More Diapers
Help your child make an easy and comfortable transition from
diapers to the “potty.” Discussion will include
information about signs of readiness, techniques for toilet
training, accidents and other potential difficulties, nap
and night training and ways to establish environments and
routines that are helpful to children. The use of appropriate
rewards and strategies will be shared along with what to expect
at different stages in your child's progress.

Choking & Obstructed Airways
Obstructed airway incidents are common among young children.
This class emphasizes hands-on practice with minimal lecture
and covers breathing emergencies from birth to age 8. Review
material and babyproofing checklist provided. Have your caregiver
trained, too! Non-certificate class.
Wednesday, October 22, 6:15-8:15; Instructor: Anna Griffin,

CPR for Infants and Children,
0-8 years
With an emphasis on accident prevention, this class will teach
you what to do in cases of drowning, suffocation, poisoning,
electric shock and other breathing emergencies.
Practice CPR using realistic infant- and toddler-sized mannequins.
Handouts provided. Non-certificate class.

Positive Discipline for Young
Children
Tired of nagging and yelling to get your child to behave?
In this workshop, parents of children ages 6 months-5 years
will learn simple, gentle discipline strategies that will
teach children to cooperate, learn social skills (such as
sharing,) reduce tantrums, and enhance their self-esteem and
confidence.

Handling Parent Anger
As parents of young children, we often find ourselves locked
in power struggles over everyday situations or getting angry
and not knowing how to act or how to channel our emotions
appropriately. In this interactive workshop, parents learn
to identify their own anger “triggers,” to express
their anger constructively and safely, and to teach children
the “angry rules.”

Child care is available for 2 years and up with pre-registration
for parenting and caregiver workshops. For more information,

Tapping our resource list of experienced parent educators
and other experts, Habitot can arrange off-site parenting
classes on a wide variety of topics at locations like your
